(Hold-up)
Duress alarm systems are sometimes referred to as hold-up systems, panic button systems, wireless duress alarm systems or wireless panic button systems. In commercial applications there is often a need to protect employees and staff from assault or other hazards including environmental concerns. In residential applications, persons at risk from burglary or reprisal from an antagonist can benefit from using a duress alarm or panic button to signal for help.
Extra digit keypad duress is also a way of protecting employees from being forced to disarm an alarm system.
This protection must be programmed into the alarm control and the central must be advised on the Monitoring Surveillance Schedule to properly handle this type of protection. The main difference between panic is (usually) audible and hold-up (silent) no audible signal.
Note: Most Municipal Laws have onerous fines for false Hold-up alarms. MUC 250.00$ +costs. When using duress protection advise clients of proper use.
